Academics:

Middle School Transition 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade

Middle School is a time of transition. Sixth graders are leaving elementary school and learning to work with a variety of teachers. Seventh graders are beginning to learn who they are and what they can be in God's kingdom. Eighth graders are becoming high school students ready to prepare for college and to impact their community.

6th Grade

When you step into the 6th grade classroom you are struck by the union of elementary and middle school. While the 6th graders remain in one classroom, each of their six teachers comes to them in a seven period secondary schedule. The students are given a P.E. locker which allows them to learn the responsibility and operation of a locker in a less stressful venue. Despite the secondary daily schedule, the 6th graders still attend elementary chapel where they hold a leadership role by leading the family groups. Finally, they complete the elementary experience and thoroughly step into middle school by attending a 3-day outdoor school in the spring.

7th Grade

Middle School is truly mirrored in our 7th grade. The 7th graders move from classroom to classroom on a seven period secondary schedule. Their lockers become the home base as they no longer have their own desk and classroom. Secondary chapel is the new venue for worship and 7th grade students are encouraged to try-out and serve on the high school worship team. Our middle school students also are given the opportunity to serve the school, church and community through our Christian Service program.

8th Grade

Eighth graders are beginning to look less like children and more like high school students. They begin to model high school actions and responsibilities. Leadership and giftings have emerged and the typical 8th grader is beginning to purposefully use those fledgling gifts in chapel as well as stepping into leadership roles in our sports, fine arts, and Christian Service activities. Middle school students are also able to showcase their skills through participation in the ACSI district Math Olympics, Spelling Bee and Science Fair. As the middle school transition comes to a close, the 8th graders participate in the 8th grade promotion ceremony where they are officially recognized as "trained" for high school.

*Currently 8th grade students will enter into their high school career with 2 credits earned on their transcript. Those classes include: Health and P.E.
